Tim Hyers calls it the “Honey Hole,“
Lorenzo Garmendia from Gradum, calls it the “Money Gap,” which I prefer, but Whatever you wanna call it, it’s a characteristic of consistent swing, and normally a consistent hitter. The “Money Gap” is that oval like space in between the arms when the swing is happening, creating the space and keeping it as they go to and through the ball, is the goal.
Texas Rangers hitting coach Tim Hyers talks a lot about “compressing the ball.” Not just hitting it or throwing our hands at it or throwing the barrel at it. There are times for that, however, to consistently drive the baseball especially when velocity and spin are involved at higher levels, a swing needs to be able to stay engaged to the core/ground and the bat stays in the zone a long time, and creating that honey hole or money gap - which Is a characteristic of a hitter that does just that.
The video below will give you a better idea of of using the lower half to create the "Money Gap" and maintain it to and through the baseball. Space is your friend as a hitter, the better the time and space, the better the consistent connection. The better the consistent connection, the better the consistent contact! You feel me?
